Solar Ambassador Program Sparks Sustainable Energy Enthusiasm

Students from Calcutta Institute of Technology Explored Hands-On Solar Innovations

In a significant step towards promoting renewable energy awareness, the International Solar Innovation Council (InSIC) and the NB Institute for Rural Technology (NBIRT) hosted the 9th edition of the Solar Ambassador Program in Kolkata. The event, held on September 10, 2024, attracted enthusiastic participation from students of Calcutta Institute of Technology, fostering a deeper understanding of sustainable energy solutions.

The program featured interactive sessions that allowed students to explore innovative technologies firsthand. They performed experiments using the Solar PV panels. Participants delved into practical experiments with devices such as the Pico Hydro Generator, Solar Sanitary Napkin Vending Machine, Solar Pumping System, Solar Water Purification System, and Bamboo-based solar garden light & torch light.

Experts from Finland, including Mr. Risto Isomaki, Mr. Markku Tahkokorpi, and Mr. Pekka Järvilehto, shared their insights on global opportunities in renewable energy, inspiring students to actively contribute to the sector.

Renowned figures like Prof. S.P. GonChaudhuri also graced the event, providing valuable guidance to the aspiring solar ambassadors. The program encouraged active participation from students, who shared their feedback to help shape the future direction of the initiative. Volunteers from NBIRT and InSIC played a vital role in showcasing solar innovations funded by InSIC and ensuring the smooth operation of the event.

By emphasizing experiential learning and interactive discussions, the Solar Ambassador Program empowered participants to become champions of sustainable energy. The event served as a catalyst for fostering a greener future and promoting renewable energy adoption in the region.
