Empowering Future Leaders: Solar Ambassador Program Sparks Renewable Energy Awareness in Kolkata

Students from Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology Dive into Solar Innovations

In a remarkable effort to enhance education in renewable energy, the International Solar Innovation Council (InSIC) and the NB Institute for Rural Technology (NBIRT) collaborated to host the 8th edition of the Solar Ambassador Program in Kolkata. The event, held on July 10, 2024, attracted enthusiastic participation from students of Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology, underscoring a significant step forward in promoting sustainable energy awareness.

The program kicked off with an engaging session titled 'Introduction to Renewable Energy,' where students immersed themselves in practical experiments and gained firsthand experience with advanced solar technologies. Participants explored innovative solutions such as the Pico Hydro Generator, Solar Sanitary Napkin Vending Machine, Solar Pumping System, Solar Water Purification System, and Bamboo-based solar garden light & torch light. The session also covered factors affecting Solar PV Performance, providing attendees with a thorough understanding of the field.

Renowned figures including Prof. S.P. GonChaudhuri and experts from Finland, Mr. Risto Isomaki and Mr. Markku Tahkokorpi, led discussions on global opportunities in renewable energy, offering valuable insights and inspiring students to actively participate in the sector.

Additionally, the event encouraged students to share feedback, shaping the future direction of the Solar Ambassador Program. Volunteers from NBIRT and InSIC played crucial roles in showcasing solar innovations funded by InSIC and ensuring the smooth execution of the event.

With a focus on experiential learning and interactive discussions, the Solar Ambassador Program made a lasting impact on participants, empowering them to champion a sustainable and greener future.
